Korea DPR has cemented its spot as the Pool leaders of Group A in the FIFA U20 Womens World Cup defeating hosts Papua New Guinea 7-1.

But Papua New Guinea has made history with Nicolette Ageva scoring their only tournament goal in their last match causing the host crowd of PNG to cheer in excitement.

Korea DPR forward Ri Un Sim scored four goals in the win, Korea DPR scored their first gaol in the 7th minute when the PNG backline failed to clear a through ball that saw Korea DPR forward Ri Un Sim score right in front of the goal mount.

It looked bleak for Papua New Guinea as the team continued making in accurate passing giving Korea DPR the chance to hold the ball in Papua New Guineas half, but continuous offside’s got the better of Korea DPR, and Papua New Guineas scramble defense also played out well.

PNG however equalized the score in the 16th minute after PNG Captain Yvonne Gabongs pass to forward Nicolette Ageva produced PNGs first tournament goal.

Ageva managed to speed up to the ball before Korea Goalkeeper Rim Yong Hwa could run out and clear the ball; Every Papua New Guinean in the stands had something to cheer about.

Agevas goal gave Papua New Guinea some new found strength as the team started to state their claim against one of Asias best U20 womens team, PNG started making good passes and even PNG goal Keeper Faith Kasiray made some exceptional saves in the next 20 minutes that followed.

This sent alarm bells to Korea DPR coach who fielded his B team to make two quick substitutions in the 20th and 21st minute to improve the team’s performance.

This helped Korea DPR who followed through with one more goal in the 37th minute and two more in injury time to lead 4-1 at half time.

The second half saw a much fatigued and tiered Papua New Guinea holding on to their defense, this saw Korea DPR create a much open and running game, that saw their three final goals come after their speed was too much for the PNG defense.

PNG coach Lisa Cole was really happy they had ended their tournament game with a goal and that was a reward for the country and that the Korea DPR team knew they had a great challenge against them.

“We all wanted a goal before the tournament ended, and the goal by Nicolette Ageva was a relief, it was our small little goal and we got that done and When Korea DPR made the early substitutions after that, I saw it as a sign of respect,”

Korea DPR coach Hwang Yongbong said he had to make the substitutions because his players were too excited and the crowd got to their game.

“I had to make the substitutions to the team because, my players were too tense during the first 20 minutes, we have Spain next and we will be looking forward to them,” Yongbong said.
